Corporate Day 2001... The Great OutdoorsThis year's corporate day didn't take the team too far out, but began early Friday morning at Sherwood Forest's holiday village Centerparcs. Everyone was split into 4 different teams with a range of activities planned by the dashing young fitness guides who looked after us.
Archery seemed to be everyone's favourite, as the guys pretended they were part of the merry men gang and the girls fantasised about being Maid Marion. The football activities were interesting as the pitch was muddy and so everyone had to get their hands dirty!! Back to base for lunch and a snooze for some, and then on with a treasure hunt and finally a bike ride with a difference - we were up against the clock and some of the other holiday makers were dishing out disapproving looks at our speedy wheelies and over-enthusiastic energy. Once the awards were given out, team A (which I was a member of) won of course, we were all dismissed to do as we liked, but with strict instructions to be at the main villa we'd hired by early evening. Some went off to the nearest bar whilst others chilled in their villas with a bottle of wine and hot shower.
Once spruced up we all met back at our main villa where a gorgeous buffet and huge barbeque was being organised - as you can imagine, eating, drinking, and dancing carried the night through until the girls sleeping in the main villa kicked us out and so the party carried onto the boys' villa and subsequently into MY villa where it finally ended at approximately 4am - are we party animals or what!!!
The gang were then invited to stay in the villas for the remainder of the weekend with partners and families joining us if they so chose to do so.
Administration Manager, Karen Ward, who organised this year's corporate day said, "It was a tough event to organise this year because of people staying the weekend and having friends and family join them, but it was worth it as it was a good venue and was local to the majority of the staff."
She wouldn't say what she had in mind for next year but gave us this clue... mountaineering training/skills will help!!
